Demand of Separate Christian Province is our constitutional right in Pakistan

Karachi: August 25, 2011. (PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, Chief of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC said that to demand a Separate Christian Province on division of Punjab as administrative unit of Federation of Pakistan is constitutional right of 20 million Pakistani Christians. A statement issued here today by Central Secretariat of PCC urged Pakistani Christians to raise their voice more forcefully with peaceful campaign to divide Punjab in more administrative units and formation of Separate Christian Province because it is not any mutiny or conspiracey to peacefully demand it.

Nazir Bhatti said that Christians demanded their due share in resources of federation of Pakistan which have been denied by regimes instead we have been treated as 2nd class citizen.

“Christian voted in favor of Pakistan before Boundary Commission to fall Western Punjab in lot of Pakistan unless Punjab was never to be a part of Pakistan when Sikhs were 51% and Muslims 47% but where is such important role of Christians in history of Pakistan because Muslim and government of Pakistan historians have scratched it for vested interest” said Nazir Bhatti

Nazir Bhatti added that All India Christian Association voted in favor of All India Muslim League for formation of Pakistan during Round Table Conferences in London in 1930-1931, as partner of All India Muslim League on assurance of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah that Christian and Muslims are people of Books and Pakistan will be a liberal democratic state but where’s part of Pakistan Movement in history of Pakistan?

“Muslim majority in Pakistan instead of shaping Pakistan as true liberal democratic state have named it as Islamic Republic of Pakistan and legislated Article 2, Hadood Ordinance, Law of Evidence and Compensation, Article 302 and blasphemy law which is constitutional genocide of 20 million Pakistani Christians” said Nazir Bhatti

The hate on religion prohibits Christians to eat meals in restaurants and street side vendor’s carts owned by Muslims in Punjab, a province which was brought by Christians in map of Pakistan but government never legislated to stop such abuse.

“There are frequent incidents of attacks on life and property of Christians in Punjab, gang rape of Christians by influential Muslims, Kidnapping and enforced conversion of Christian women, attacks on worship places and killing innocent Christians on pretext to blasphemy is at rise but it so unfortunate that Islamic laws protects Muslim culprits and set them free after heinous crimes like rape, murder and looting” said Nazir Bhatti

“SP Singha, President of All India Christian League demanded written assurance from Quaid-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah to support All India Muslim League in Pakistan Movement on allocation of Separate Electorate which was given in writing by Mohammad Ali Jinnah but where is our right to elect our representatives in Parliament with our votes? Muslim majority have snatched our right to elect our leaders for assemblies and have imposed on us system in which Muslim parties select their Christians pimps and alcohol suppliers as our leaders” said Nazir Bhatti

Nazir Bhatti said it’s surprising that our representation in assemblies is decreasing in every national general election. We have now 2 Christians in National Assembly, when in 1985 were 5 and in 1973 were 6.

“So, in such situation of hate on religion, imposition of Islamic laws on us and killing on pretext to blasphemy in Pakistan, our demand of Separate Christian Province on division of Punjab is need of time because we are second biggest population in Punjab and we divided Punjab for Pakistan during Pakistan Movement” said Nazir Bhatti

Nazir Bhatti said that Pakistani Christians are ready to extend their Separate Christian Province boundaries including Cholistan desert in South Eastern areas of Punjab where Muslim shall enjoy equal rights and Christians from other parts of Punjab will not be asked to migrate.
