Now, ISIS is about to embark on the destruction of the
ancient sites of Palmyra, in Syria, aka Tadmur, or as was named in
Aramaic “Tadmurta” which means “Miracle”.
Tadmur was a trading post and resting area for Assyrian
traders and kings since the second millennia, BC. Traders from Tadmur
had business contracts with other Assyrian trading posts like the
renowned Assyrian trading post of Kultepe, Mesopotamia (today in Turkey).
The population was mainly of Aramaic background, however, by the 11th
century BC, Assyrian king Tiglath-Pileser I, incorporated Tadmur into
the Assyrian Empire.
