Syria keeps closing the
international border with Lebanon every time Lebanon dares to act as
a responsible state. The reason is always the same, the security
situation.
This would be understandable
if the Syrians didn’t have an open border with Lebanon with many
miles of uncontrolled land for the Lebanese and used as smuggling
gates by the Syrians.
It is ridicules to close one
official gate and let more than 10 gates in the border being open
for smuggling of weapons and terrorists, to not mention the many
goods that invade the Lebanese market and hurt the local produced
goods.
We in the Aramaic Democratic
Organization dare to encourage the Lebanese government to act on
these attempts by this Arab regime. We urge the Lebanese government
to open the border with the state of Israel after making a peace
accord that will lead to a better future for Lebanon and the Middle
East.
We should not be afraid of
talking peace with anyone. The myth that Lebanon will be the last
country to sign a peace deal with Israel is unacceptable. Lebanon
should have been the first country to do so and show the way for the
rest of the region that peace is better than war.
We in ArDO want peace with
all people and countries. If Syria start to respect Lebanon we will
be respecting Syria in every way possible.
