Summary of Events
The Arab League warned the Assad regime of the repercussions of
violating the terms of the Arab League initiative plan. The Arab
League chief added that repeated crimes and violence against
people will result in foreign intervention. The Syrian National
Council has called for the Arab League to defer the Syrian file
to the UN Security Council in order to protect civilians.
In Syria, many Lebanese military trucks were spotted in Damascus
without a clear justification yet. Activists suspect the
Lebanese army is arming the Assad militias and is directly
involved in suppressing demonstrations. Addounya TV continues
its propaganda campaign, as it rounded up over a hundred corpses
in the Homs National Hospital fridge, and then directed an
alleged uncovering of mass killings by armed terrorists.
At least 29 people were killed today in Idlib and Homs. The city
of Homs continues to suffer more than any other city as it lost
19 civilians today alone. Demonstrators went out as usual in
most Syrian cities, including Aleppo, Quneitra, and Raqqa.
In Homs, security forces and army units attacked, shelled and
opened heavy machinegun fire in the neighbourhoods of Karm
Zaytoun, Bayada, Khaldiya, Qosur, Ghouta, Deir Baalba, Qarabis,
and Bab Sebaa; and the city of Qasir. Baba Amr is still under
heavy siege, while being shelled with heavy artillery and tanks
around the hour. Water, electricity, and all communications have
been cut off, and with medical supplies, food, and even bread
and wheat banned from entering the city. The number of those
killed rose over a hundred in the past four days alone.
Demonstrations went out nonetheless in the neighbourhoods of
Karm Shami, Maidan, Karm Zaytoun, Jab Jandali, Inshaat, Ghouta,
Hamra, Deir Balba, Bayada, Khaldiya, Jorat Shayah, Qarabis,
Qosur, Waar, and Bab Sebaa; and the cities and towns of Houleh,
Palmyra, and Qasir.
