Re:
WCCR calls on UNSC to modify UNSCR 1701 and mandate UNIFIL with
chapter 7 to protect the civil society of Lebanon.
Dear
Mr President,
The
World Council of the Cedars Revolution has repeatedly over the
last weeks warned of the restlessness of the alliance of
Hezbollah, Syria and Iran, who provoked a war with Israel that
lasted 34 days and brought so much destruction to Lebanon, that
they would turn their ruthless attention and terrorist aggression
against the democratically elected government of Lebanon, Lead by
Prime Minister Fouad Siniora and his majority coalition parties.
We are
very concerned about the dangerously vulnerable position of the
Lebanese government, that it might find itself under attack,
politically at first and militarily if it becomes necessary, by
Hezbollah this terrorist militia and its ferocious allies inside
Lebanon and outside.
The
democratically elected government of Lebanon is in extreme danger
of being overthrown. Our fear for the Lebanese Civil Society is
that the Lebanese Army has been infiltrated with Syrian
intelligence and military personnel. The only force sufficiently
capable of diverting such an attack is that of the International
Forces in Lebanon. However, without the robust chapter 7
capabilities, the International Forces will become merely lame
duck observers instead of the power house that they can be to
avert a civil war and the toppling of the legitimate government of
Prime Minister Fouad Siniora.
The
World Council of the Cedars Revolution calls on the United Nations
Security Council to hold an emergency meeting to modify UNSCR 1701
and empower the UNIFIL with UNSC Chapter 7 capabilities.
Failure by the UNSC to avert the collapse of a democratic
government and a subsequent Civil War will empower further this
heartless and merciless axis of evil into an act of ethnic and
religious cleansing such the world has never before experienced.
We
look with anxious anticipation, to your leadership and that of
your Security Council to preserve and protect the democratic
process in Lebanon, a founding member of the body under your
Presidency; and to demonstrate once and for all that the UNSC is
genuinely committed to the preservation and protection of the rule
of law on the international stage.
Yours
faithfully
The
World Council of the Cedars Revolution
