Your
Excellency,
-
Lebanon is in the
grip of terrorist attacks
-
Democracy is on the verge of total collapse
There
can be no doubt now, that the Syrian President is fulfilling his threat of
terrorism and of setting Lebanon on fire in order to destroy its democracy
and any hope of self determination.
The proxies of
the brutal and ferocious Syrian regime, like vampires, have immersed
themselves in the blood of their victims whose only sin is their total
loyalty to the sovereignty and independence of their beloved Lebanon, to the
point of sacrificial offering and martyrdom.
No one in
Lebanon is safe, not the army, not the members of parliament and definitely
not the civil society who seem to be killed in large numbers every time a
bomb explodes to assassinate a member of parliament and the Cedars
Revolution.
So, who has
the political muscle and physical capabilities that can stop this horrendous
spate of terrorism gripping the innocent and honorable people of Lebanon?
The answer simply is, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
In condemning
the assassination of Walid Eido MP, his son and eight other innocent
bystanders, The World Council of the Cedars Revolution calls on the United
Nations Security Council (UNSC) to take the following immediate measures;
1) To protect
what is left of the Lebanese parliamentary body, particularly those who are
members of
a duly and
democratically elected government and parliament; and who are strong
advocates of the
Cedars
Revolution.
The enemy
is killing them off, one by one in order to create political turmoil in
Lebanon and force
the
collapse of a democratically elected government. Only the UNSC has the
capacity to protect
them from
decimation.
2) To deploy
UNIFIL under Chapter 7 along the Lebanese-Syrian borders with the clear
direction of
stopping
any and all arms being smuggled into Lebanon from Syria. It is absolutely
crucial to any
peace
effort that arms smuggling from Syria to its terrorist proxies in Lebanon be
stopped. It is
equally
essential that UNIFIL has the capacity and the charter of seeking and
confiscating arms
which are
illegally placed in the hands of terrorist organizations throughout the
whole of Lebanon.
The
valiant Lebanese army is fully occupied and stretched out beyond its
capacity to fight this
maniacal
enemy. It needs all the help and support it can get.
3) To direct
Prime Minister Fouad Siniora, that as a democracy, it is incumbent upon the
government
of the day
to hold bi-elections to replace both of the assassinated members of
parliament, namely
the late
minister for industry, Pierre Gemayel MP and now the late Walid Eido MP.
A session
of parliament must be called by the speaker, in order to put into effect a
motion for
holding
the two bi-elections.
If the
President and the Speaker of the house refuse to co-operate, it will become
blatantly clear as
to who is
protecting the terrorists and who is impeding the course of justice and
democratic process
in
Lebanon. In which case the UNSC must take immediate measures under chapter
7, to protect the
democratic
process in Lebanon.
