Syrian military is again
occupying Lebanese Territory

In a blatant disregard for UNSCR
1559 Syria’s military has invaded Lebanon once again
Your Excellency Ban Ki-Moon,
The World Council for the Cedars
Revolution (WCCR) has indisputable proof of Syria’s invasion and
occupation of Lebanese territory. The Syrian military has penetrated
Lebanese territory to a depth of six kilometers and an area spanning
twenty five kilometers along the Lebanese-Syrian borders, without
experiencing any defense engagements from either the Lebanese army or
the UNIFIL.
Syria’s flagrant defiance of UNSCR
1559 and occupation of Lebanese territory is nothing short of an act of
war against the people of Lebanon and their territorial integrity; and
its total disregard for UNSCR 1701 has seen its steady and systematic
supply of arms flourish unabated and without any obstacles whatsoever.
Lebanese farmers in the occupied territory have been ordered off their
land and warned to stay away.
Syria has created this buffer zone
for itself in order that it may continue to provide illegal arms
supplies to terrorist organizations in Lebanon such as Hezbollah, Hamas,
armed Palestinians, the Islamic Jihad and others. Hezbollah’s Deputy
Secretary General Naim Qassam was quoted in today’s issue of Annahar
newspaper in Beirut that Hezbollah is better equipped today than prior
to the war of last July. Hezbollah is better prepared to wage war, he
claims, against Israel than ever before.
An article which recently appeared
on Reuters Website on the 4th of May, clearly identifies that
Bashar AL Assad has informed you directly that he is totally opposed the
UNSC deploying any troops along the Lebanese Syrian border. Surely,
Excellency that is obvious to you and your Security Council that such a
deployment of troops would virtually put an end to illegal supply of
arms to terrorists. So, what are you waiting for?
The same article also states that
Hezbollah is now better equipped and prepared than ever before. The
question that begs asking, is, how are Hezbollah and others being
re-armed? And the obvious answer is by the Syrians smuggling arms across
the Lebanese border; and now they occupy Lebanese territory.
Further, the WCCR believes that
the terrorists Hezbollah’s preparations have a dual purpose, one as
stated that they can wage war against Israel and the second is that they
are prepared to create an internal conflict in order to disrupt the
forthcoming presidential elections in Lebanon and impose fear upon its
people.
Excellency, the WCCR must impress
upon your good self and your Security Council to be ever diligent and
alert for the need to protect the sovereignty, territorial integrity and
independence of Lebanon as well as its vulnerable civil society.
