Today’s Summary of Events

Assad loyalists today killed at least 28 civilians across Syria. Most deaths occurred in Hama and surrounding towns. Sixteen were killed as a result of the shelling by the army that was accompanied with an incursion by thousands of Assad militiamen. Madaya, Buqein and Zabadani in the suburbs of Damascus were also stormed as the regime commenced a massive arrests campaign across the country. Arrests and house-to-house searches also took place in Baseera in Deir Azzour, Bab Sbaa, Marriaja, and Bab Hood in Homs.
 
Demonstrators went out on what was called the “anti-Russia Tuesday,” protesting the Russian continuous support to the Assad regime’s brutal tactics. Demonstrators burnt Russian and Chinese flags and chanted against their presidents. The Russian president stated that Assad should not be pressured and no sanctions should be considered. He added that there are terrorist elements among the opposition figures. Buthaina Shaaban, Assad’s media advisor, met with Russian government officials and called upon western countries to follow Russia’s lead in blocking any UNSC sanctions or resolutions that condemn the Assad’s regime violent suppression of demonstrations.
 
Demonstrators also took to the streets in Deir Baalaba, Khaldiya, Qosur, Joorat Shayyah, Qarabis, Inshaat, Bab Amr, Jorat Arayes, Waar, Bab Draib, Karm Shami, and Dablan; and the towns of Talbisa, Rastan, Houla, Qasir, Palmyra and Qraytain.
 
In the meantime, Hama and its surrounding towns as well as Latakia were shelled and attacked by Assad loyalists with heavy machinegun fire that targeted residential areas.
 
It is noted that the ambassadors of the US, France, Japan and Denmark visited the town of Daraya in the suburbs of Damascus to offer their condolences to the family of a young Syrian activist called Ghaiath Matar, who was killed under torture by Assad security forces. Just as the ambassadors left the location, regime forces attacked the crowds using live fire and teargas canisters to disperse them.

قامت قوّات الأمن اليوم بقتل 28 مدنياً في أنحاء سورية المختلفة. حيث سقط ثلاثة شهداء في حمص واثنان في دير الزور وشهيد في إدلب وستة عشر قتيلاً في حماة وريفها. جاء ذلك في بعد قيام فوق عشرة آلاف عنصر من الأمن وقوّات الأسد باجتياح مضايا والزبداني وبقّين في ريف دمشق، واعتقالهم العشرات من الناشطين. وتمّت الاعتقالات أيضاً في قرية البصيرة في دير الزور وباب سباع والمرّيجة هود في حمص
 
وقد خرج المتظاهرون في ما سُمِّيَ "ثلاثاء الغضب من روسيا" احتجاجاً على الدعم المستمر من روسيا لديكتاتوريّة الأسد الوحشيّة وقاموا بحرق أعلام روسيا والصين. وفي آخر تطورات الموقف الروسي  قال الرئيس الروسي ميدفيديف أنه لا يجب الضغط على نظام الأسد أو فرض عقوبات عليه، معتبراً وجود إرهابييّن بين معارضين سوريّين. وقد اجتمعت مستشارة الأسد بثينة شعبان بالحكومة الروسيّة ودعت خلال لقائها الدول الغربيّة أن تَقتَدِيَ بأفعال روسيا التي أوقفت عدّة جهود لإصدار قرارات ضد سورية في مجلس الأمن
 
وقد خرجت أيضاً مظاهرات في أحياء دير بعلبة والبيّاضة والخالديّة والقصور وجورة الشيّاح والقرابيص والإنشاءات وبابا عمرو وجورة العرايس والوعر باب الدريب وكرم الشامي والدبلان، ومدن تلبيسة والرستن والحولة والقصير وتدمر والقريتين
 
وقد تعرّضت حماة وريفها واللاذقيّة لقصفٍ من قِبَل قُوّات الأسد وإطلاق نار على عدّة مناطق سكنيّة من الرشاشات الثقيلة. وقد جرى إطلاق نار كثيف أيضاً على المنازل في تلدهب والبيّاضة والخالديّة وتلبيسة في حمص، وفي الجيزة في درعا
 
وقد قام سفراء الولايات المتّحدة وفرنسا واليابان والدانمارك بالذهاب إلى بلدة داريا في ريف دمشق للتعزية في عزاء الناشط غيّاث مطر الذي قُتل تحت التعذيب من قبل قوّات الأسد خلال اعتقاله. هذا وقد تمّت مهاجمة المركز من قبل قوّات الأسد بعد مغادرة أربعة سفراء جاؤوا للتعزية فيه. وقد قامت قوّات الأمن بإطلاق غاز مسيل للدموع لتفريق المتظاهرين بعد مغادرة السفراء
