EU Prepares More Sanctions
Regional
discontent: Anti-Assad
demonstrations in Beirut
The EU is
preparing for more sanctions on
the Assad regime that would
include blocking investments in
the oil sector and media outlets
that spread the Assad
propaganda. At the same time,
the US declared its intention to
produce a harsher UNSC
resolution condemning, and
possibly sanctioning, the Assad
regime.
On the other hand, Russia in
collaboration with the Latin
bloc that comprises of
Venezuela, Cuba, Bolivia,
Nicaragua, Ecuador, and some
Caribbean states, declared their
rejection to any foreign
intervention in Syria.
In Syria, the Secretary General
of the Arab League Nabil
al-Arabi finally arrived in
Damascus after the regime put
off his appointment from
Wednesday to Saturday. Al-Arabi
presented Bashar with a proposal
that would have him rule Syria
until 2014. Most Arab rulers
fear that revolutions would
shake their thrones so they opt
to negatively influence
revolutions. Syrians reacted
with demonstrations in Nawa and
Soora in Daraa, calling for
executing Bashar Assad and
condemning the Arab League’s
initiative.
In the meantime, the regime
killed at least fifteen
civilians in its operations in
Homs and Idlib. In the city of
Homs, demonstrations occurred in
Bab Amr, Khaldiya, Bayada,
Inshaat, Ghouta, Qosur, Talbisa,
Palmyra, Qaseer, and Hoola.
Demonstrators called for
executing Bashar Assad and for
foreign intervention. The
regime’s forces killed at least
twelve civilians in Homs alone
as it shelled demonstrations in
Bab Amr to stop them from
protesting. Two more were also
killed by the regime south of
Saraqeb in Idleb.
The town of Heet on the Lebanese
border was invaded by the regime
forces, in a bid to stop the
entry of supplies into the
surrounding towns and the
fleeing of wanted demonstrators.
The regime terrorized the town
with violent threats as well as
destruction of private property
in order to stop residents from
assisting demonstrators.
The commander of the Free Syrian
Army (FSA) Riyad al-Asaad
declared today the formation of
two new divisions to protect
Damascus and its suburbs. Asaad
said that the FSA has been
waging successful operations
against the Assad forces. He
assured that the regime will
fall sooner than what is
expected, and that Bashar Assad
will suffer Gadhafi’s fate.
Asaad added that the FSA has no
political goals, and urged the
Syrian opposition inside and
abroad to get their act together.

يُحضّر المزيد من العقوبات
على النظام
يقوم
الاتّحاد الأوروبِّي
بالاستعداد لفرض عقوبات
إضافية على نظام الأسد تشمل
حظر الاستثمار في قطاع النفط
ومعاقبة المحطّات الإعلاميّة
السوريّة. في ذات الوقت أعلنت
الولايات المتّحدة نيّتها
استصدار إدانة أكثر قوة ضد
النظام السوري في مجلس الأمم
المتّحدة
وعلى صعيد
المحور المعاكس، أعلنت روسيا
بالإضافة إلى كتلة التحالف
البوليفاري التي تضم فنزويلا
وكوبا وبوليفيا ونيكاراغوا
والإكوادور وبعض دول الكاريبي
رفضها للتدخّل الخارجي في
سورية. ويذكر أن هذه الدول
تشترك مع نظام الأسد بالكثير
من انتهاكات حقوق الانسان
والتطرّف السياسي
وقد وصل
الأمين العام لجامعة الدول
العربية نبيل العربي إلى دمشق
وأجرى مباحثات مع بشار الأسد
طرح عبرها مبادرته المدعومة
من الخليج وإيران. وترمي
مبادرته إلى تشكيل حكومة وحدة
وطنيّة يبقى خلالها بشار
الأسد رئيساً لسورية إلى حين
إجراء انتخابات رئاسيّة عام
2014. ويذكر أن معظم الدول
العربيّة تهاب أن تطالها
الثورات ولذا تُحاول الالتفاف
عليها
وقد قتلت
قوّات الأسد اليوم 15 مدنياً
على الأقل في مداهمات
وعمليّات اعتقال واسعة في وقت
استمرّت المظاهرات في الخروج.
ففي حمص خرجت مظاهرات في
أحياء بابا عمرو والخالديّة
والبيّاضة والإنشاءات والغوطة
والقصور ومدن تلبيسة وتدمر
والقصير والحولة. وطالبت
المظاهرات بإعدام الرئيس
وبالتدخل الدولي. وقتل جيش
الأسد 12 مدنياً في حمص وحدها
حينما بدأ بقصف المتظاهرين في
بابا عمرو. وسقط قتيلان آخران
في جنوب سراقب في ريف إدلب
وقامت قوّات
الأمن بمداهمة قرية هيت
الواقعة على الحدود السوريّة
اللبنانيّة لمنع إدخال
المساعدات وتهريب المتظاهرين
المطلوبين. وقامت بحملة ترهيب
للسكّان عبر تدمير الممتلكات
الشخصيّة وإلحاق الأذى الجسدي
والتهديد كيلا يقوموا بمساعدة
المتظاهرين
وقد خرجت
مظاهرات في نوى –درعا- تطالب
بإعدام الرئيس وأخرى في بلدة
الصورة رفع فيها المتظاهرون
لافتات تُندّد بزيارة الأمين
العام لجامعة الدول العربيّة
وتطعن بمبادرته
وقد أعلن قائد الجيش السوري
الحر رياض الأسعد تشكيل كتيبة
أبي عبيدة عامر بن الجراح في
ريف دمشق وكتيبة معاوية بن
أبي سفيان في دمشق لمقاومة
قوّات الأمن السوريّة التي
تقتل المتظاهرين. ويُبَشّر
الأسعد الشعب السوري أن الجيش
السوري الحر يقوم بتوجيه
ضربات ضد ميليشيّات الأسد في
كل المناطق السوريّة. وأكّد
على سقوط النظام بوقت أسرع
مما نتوقّع. وقال أنّ الأسد
سوف يُلاقي مصير القذافي. وفي
هذا المجال أكَّد أن الجيش
السوري الحر ليس له أهداف
سياسيّة وكرّر -كما يُكرّر
الثُوّار دائماً- أنَّ على
المعارضة السورية في الداخل
والخارج توحيد صفوفها
