The Syrian National Council and The Arab League will Organize a Conference to Prepare For Transitional Period

The Syrian National Council, in cooperation with the Arab League, will organize a national conference to prepare for the transitional period in Syria.

A spokesperson for the Syrian National Council confirmed that the SNC is consulting with several Syrian activists and dissidents to prepare for the transitional period in accordance with the Arab League Initiative.

The Council's spokesperson said that officials in the Executive Office and the General Secretariat of the SNC met in the past few days with several Syrian figures, political dissidents and revolutionary activists in Cairo. The talks lead to an agreement on the formation of a planning committee that includes the SNC and some other political dissidents and activists. This committee will oversee preparation for a transitional phase in liaison with the Arab League.

It was determined that the conference will issue a memorandum concerning the post-Syrian regime phase. The memorandum will be submitted to the Arab Ministerial Council, and it will include parameters and rules to manage a transitional period that ensures inclusivity and the participation of all political forces in Syria.
