Only the Cedars Revolution can stop the misery of Lebanon

The movement of the Lebanese people in 2005 that got the name ¨Cedars Revolution¨ by many Lebanese and international observers were successful in one main thing that would change a train of wrongness in Lebanon. Lebanon had been captured in the hand of its bigger neighbour Syria. For 15 years Lebanon was playing the role as a victim under the tutelage of the Syrian regime and intelligence apparatus.

The Cedars Revolution put an end to all that. The nightmare of every Lebanese wanting and longing to live in peace and freedom were about to end when the people of Lebanon gathered under the same banners and demanded the same goals.

What the leaders of the Cedars Revolution didn’t do then and are letting the people pay the heavy price today was not to complete the mission that would truly let Lebanon and the Lebanese feel safe and stability.

In 2005 the UNSCR 1559 should have been implemented fully. If it had been that way the Lebanese people could have been spared from a political war between the different parties for months culminating with a full scale war in July 2006 between the Iranian hands in Lebanon, Hezballa and the Israeli defence force, the IDF.

The Lebanese could also have been spared the civil cold war that is going on in the country when this article is being written in the beginning of 2007.

Inside the 1559 Lebanon can find all the stability it can need.

Only the 1559 has so clear vision for the future of Lebanon that every Lebanese person that is not working for any other interest than the Lebanese one should support.

Lebanon is very complicated but it doesn’t get any easier when the Syrian regime uses some Lebanese for the Syrian purpose and Iran using their child Hezballa to destabilize the region and especially Lebanon.

With this reality the rest of the Lebanese people are turning their eyes to the UN and the International community inside the UN including the super powers of the USA and Russia.

Today, we have seen that the weapons of the world couldn’t disarm Hezballa and bring stability to Lebanon. For that reason there must be another strategy for the Lebanese people to try. The only method that helped before was the peaceful demonstrations that grew for each day until the Baath army withdrew in 2005 could and should in year 2007 even if it is a little bit late come alive again and force the Hezballa militia to disarm and start to get used to being under the Lebanese law.

Only the Cedars Revolution can stop the misery of Lebanon.
