The Copts are suffering from persecution in Egypt

The Coptic people are suffering from open persecution in their historical land of the Nile. Political Islam has had its rebirth in this country since long time with the Muslim Brotherhood as the biggest party. In the last years we have seen a general public hate against the indigenous peoples of Egypt. All this is going on in front of the state authorities eyes.

The Coptic people of Egypt have their origin in Egypt since the Pharaoh time. They are proud of the rich heritage they have inherited and the marks they have made on the world civilisations.

They became Christians from the very beginning of our time since Saint Marcus spread Christianity from around year 61 after Christ. The Coptic Church belongs to the roots of Christianity in the world and its members are very happy to have received the holy family when they had to leave Bethlehem and take cover in many places in Egypt.

In Cairo the Copts are living in miserable conditions in areas called ¨garbage cities¨. They are living under the line of poverty and struggling every day just to survive with an average lifetime of 50 years.

In the Christian suburbs the state has since many years been dumping the cities garbage in the area. This has caused many health problems and very badly social effects.

Copts living in Cairo can easy feel the unjust going on every day. Most high position jobs are reserved for Muslims only. A Copt can never dream of getting the job he or she might deserve. They are living under different conditions than their fellow citizens of the Muslim group, a so called second hand citizens. Every day they go through the hard life in Cairo with a double burden. Copts tattoo the cross on their hands in a way to show their pride of their faith. This becomes a price they have to pay in every day life.

In other regions of Egypt, mainly the country side or the Upper Egypt there are other problems that face the Christians. The problems they face there consider the complete lack of law and the hate of the fanatic Muslims. People live in constant fear. Individual accidents can easy spread to the whole village and make Muslims angry and start to take revenge on any Christian and anything belonging to Christians. The police are usually blind and dumb or in the best case just helpless. If the Christians would fight back they will have the majority of their neighbouring villages against them together with the state institutions.

The Christians of Egypt are living in a society that treat them like if they were not real Egyptians and gives them far less rights than the rest of the population.

This apartheid rules in Egypt must stop and the 10 million Copts should get free in their own country and once and for all start to feel as first hand citizens.
