Aoun’s schizophrenia and action ends in the advantage of Syria
081204
Without mentioning the historical relations
between Aoun and the Syrian regime we can start here from 1989.
The former General Michel Aoun declared a
predetermined lost war against Syria, right after Aoun declared
a termination war against the Christian Lebanese Forces. All
that brought the collapse of what was known as liberated
Christian areas that formed the defiant block against the Arab
Syrian regime in Lebanon.
In 2004 and through the hard work of Lebanese
abroad including some of the Free Patriotic Movement Figures,
Aoun was invited to Syria’s accountability act. Aoun has nothing
to do with the Syrian Accountability act; it is the fruit of the
honest hard working Lebanese abroad. A serious Lebanese lobby
were finally created and effective. When we approached more and
more votes in both the congress and senates Aoun Knew Syria’s
accountability act was going to pass with or without him so he
opted to attend and claim it as his own to later be able to
dismiss it as he wishes.
A UN resolution was written and lobbied for
by the Lebanese lobby and in the end of 2004 it became official
under number 1559. Once again Aoun got in schizophrenia mood and
started to balance, one day he claimed he was the God father of
the 1559 and one day he called it a foreign decision imposed on
Lebanon.
In 2005 after the united Lebanese people
forced Syria out of Lebanon and just before the 2005 Lebanese
parliamentary elections suddenly Aoun’s Legal troubles were
cleared by the pro Syrian regime allowing him back into
Lebanon!! Once more under a falsified election campaign lead
under the pretext of resisting Syria and its pro-armed groups in
Lebanon, Aoun was able to win 75% of the Christian votes. Public
shock came after election when he signed alliance with pro
Syrian groups and started working against the Cedars Revolution.
Aoun was able to return Syria’s influence into Lebanon. A month
ago Syrian president Bashar Assad publicly announced that pro
Syrian groups in Lebanon would win 2009 elections.
Aoun got nothing from Hezballa when he became
their friend but Hezballa won a lot from the friendship of Aoun.
Today Aoun is not getting anything from the Baath regime but
this regime has a lot to gain from the leader of the biggest
Christian coalition in the Parliament.
You may think Aoun unintentionally end up in
the Syrian camp, you may argue that it is Aoun failed policy
that led him there, you may think he planned this all the time.
All that is irrelevant, the bottom line is
that no one can deny all facts that prove beyond any doubt that
all Aoun’s action have ended in the ultimate advantage of Syria.
