The Taif gave Lebanon to Syria and Doha gave us to the Iranians.

In 1990 the Arab Syrian Amy put its hands over Lebanon and occupied 95 % of its territories. All this came after an Arab and International agreement made in 1989 in the city of Taif, Saudi Arabia. He Syrians had beaten most powers in the country that was against their hegemony.

In almost 20 years after and after a long struggle to get the Arab Syrian Army out of most parts of Lebanon the citizens of this tiny country had to see another occupation of its capital followed by another peace deal made in another Arab city and also this one leaving the decision making in Lebanon in foreign hands.

In 2008 and after 3 years of halting and destroying all chances for life to the Cedars Revolution spirit, the Iranian Hezballa party managed to get its hand over Beirut by a clear military invasion forcing the Lebanese police and military to stand by and watch while Beirut residents had to defend their houses as long as they could before they had to leave them and letting Hezballa members have control over the land.

This military victory could easily be transformed into a political victory when the Hezballa camp agreed on meeting the other Lebanese parties in the Qatari capital of Doha. With Arab and International support the Lebanese agreed on a peace deal. This time it meant that the Syrian Iranian camp in Lebanon gets the last word in the country.

The Syrians through their many small allies and the Iranians through one main partner, Hezballa.

Hezballa could now remove its blockage of Down Town Beirut and other road block throughout the capital. The Iranian and Syrian hands in Lebanon were guaranteed a new Lebanese president that won’t do anything against their interests and a strong minority inside the new government that can veto any decision made by the majority.

Once again Lebanon could be fallen into the shadow and be forgotten by the UN and the International community. The Lebanese Diaspora must continue now its work for a free Lebanon. Also the Lebanese inside must continue their struggle against this new hegemony to not say occupation of a foreign regionally power.

Long Live Free Lebanon
