Syrian-run Beheading Room
Washington DC, November 16, 2004/RPS News/ -- Now that Fallujah is under control, the alleyways and hidden homes are revealing more than meets the eye. In one such discovery, the Iraqis, supported by U.S. Marines, stumbled on some sinister room right out of a movie set. It is one of the more infamous rooms where we have witnessed, in the last few months, some atrocious beheadings of innocent people.
The room had two hostages shackled to the wall. One of which was the Syrian driver, Mohammed al-Jundi, of the two French journalists Christian Chesnot and Georges Malbrunot, who have gone missing since August. The other hostage was an Iraqi national.
Some people believe that the French 180 degrees turn around policy change towards Syria is as a result of intelligence that may have shown that the Ba'athists in Damascus are behind the kidnappings of the French journalists. Now we may have proof that this may not be too far from the truth.
The Iraqi hostage, who had been beaten on the back with steel cables, said his tormentors were Syrian and that he thought he was in Syria until the Marines found him. A US Marine, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that other militants came and went, but "The Syrians were always in charge,"
This statement delivers some valuable intelligence.
"Syrians in Charge" means one of two things. Either the Syrians were sanctioned by the Syrian government or they are free-spirited terrorists that have attained their position because of past glories.
If the Syrian government has sanctioned these killings, as the French vote for resolution 1559 may indicate, then we have Syrian Ba'athist direct involvement in the killings of innocent civilians including possibly the two Americans hostages, Eugene Armstrong and Jack Hensley, who were beheaded around September 20. If the Syrian regime is innocent of these crimes, their policies are not. Their dictatorship is producing terrorists instead of peaceful citizens. Either way, the Ba'athists in Damascus are to blame for the violence in Iraq.

Al-Shara'a EU Promises Broken
Washington DC, November 15, 2004 /RPS News/ - When Farouq al-Shara'a, the foreign minister of Syria, initialed the Association Agreement in Brussels on October 19, 2004, he promised the EU that all Syrian prisoners of conscience would be freed by the end of Ramadan.
The end of Ramadan was November 13, 2004 and not one prisoner has been released leading many inside Syria to believe that the regime in Syria does not want reform or to be reformed.
According to the Syrian Human Rights Committee in London and the Arab Human Rights Organization in Syria, no one believes that these prisoners, some of whom have never seen their children, may ever be released.
In addition to strong language on WMD, the Association Agreement contains also language that defends the Syrian human rights long an issue of contention between Europe and Syria and which has delayed the signing of this agreement.
Ba'ath Threats against the Syrian Opposition in the Diaspora are on the Rise Germany Captures a Syrian Embassy Agent in Germany for Threats against the Syrian Opposition
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE November 15, 2004 Media Contact: media@reformsyria.com (301) 346-5000
The Syrian Ba'ath party secret agents are on the prowl against Syrian opposition outside Syria. In what seems to be a deliberate policy, RPS members are getting threatening emails from Syrian agents. The emails are threatening to kill them, their children, and members of their immediate families.
On November 6, Germany has arrested an agent of the Syrian embassy and charged him with spying and threats against the Syrian opposition in the Diaspora.
RPS has contacted the FBI in an effort to analyze the emails to find the perpetrators. If the threatening emails are coming from the Syrian embassy staff in Washington DC, RPS will press the Justice Department to take action and will call on the US Congress to implement the component of the Syria Accountability Act that prevents Syrian diplomats from traveling more than 40 miles from their diplomatic mission.
In July of this year, RPS filed a complaint with the Office of the Attorney General John Ashcroft against Ambassador Imad Mustapha for allegedly giving an interview to White and Black, a magazine owned by the Ba'ath party in Syria, in which he said that they were monitoring the movements of Farid Ghadry, the president of the Reform Party.
It is illegal to monitor the movements of U.S. citizens. RPS, on July 22, received a response to our complaint from the Assistant Director - Counterintelligence Division in which it said: "We appreciate being notified of this .. and agree that illegal monitoring of US citizens is cause for concern". The letter continues: "In the event that you discover additional information regarding the possible "monitoring" of U.S. citizens please do not hesitate to contact the Federal Bureau of Investigations".
